MTECHTIPS:-COMMODITY NEWS

1. Australia's jobless rate reached 4.9% in April, from 5.2% in March, the Australian Bureau of Statistics
reported Thursday. The number of employed rose 15,500 to 11,501,000 while the number of people
unemployed decreased by 28,800 to 598,200.
2. India's crude oil imports from Iran declined by about 34 percent in April compared with March, deeper
than expected and the first sign of New Delhi implementing cuts in supplies from the sanctions-hit
Islamic republic.
3. The Dollar Index, which weighs the strength of dollar against basket of six other currencies rose by almost 0.4%. The dollar index hit a fresh three-week high Wednesday.

4. Chinese exports rose 4.9% in April from a year earlier, while imports rose 0.3%, official data showed. China's trade surplus for April widened to $18.4 billion, compared to expectations of $10.4 billion.
5 China unwrought Copper and Copper product imports declined by 19% in April. The latest data
from China General Administration of Customs showed that the Copper imports were 375258 tonnes in April 2012 compared to 462182 tonnes in the month of March 2012.
6 The Bank of Korea held its policy interest rate at 3.25% Thursday as expected, with the South
Korean central bank citing economic growth concerns and risks to the inflation outlook.
