MTECHTIPS:-Sensex rises 100 points; Oil & Gas, metal, auto lead
he BSE Sensex surged over 100 points in early trade on Monday led by gains in RIL, ITCBSE 0.45 % and HDFC Bank. The 50-share Nifty was trading at 5697, up 0.56 per cent. At 9:40 a.m., the 30-share BSE index was trading at 18,740, up 114 points or 0.6 per cent. RILBSE 1.25 %(1.4 per cent), ITC (1.2 per cent) and HDFC BankBSE 0.45 % (0.57 per cent) led the gainers pack. United Spirits LtdBSE -2.52 % slipped over 4 per cent in early trade after Vijay Mallya said that he does not have to do a deal with UK drinks giant Diageo and will not sell prized assets to rescue his groundedKingfisherBSE 4.82 % airline, media reports quoted. The stock was trading 3.3 per cent lower at Rs 1166.70 at 09:40 am. The BSE Oil & Gas Index was trading 1 per cent higher, the BSE Auto Index gained 0.81 per cent and the BSE FMCG Index was up 0.53 per cent. The BSE IT Index was down 0.18 per cent. The BSE midcap index was trading 0.41 per cent higher, while the BSE Smallcap index rose 0.60 per cent. Asian shares edged higher with Japan's Nikkei gaining 0.3 per cent in early trade after tumbling 1.3 per cent on Friday. US crude futures fell 0.4 per cent to $85.95 a barrel and Brent eased 0.3 per cent to $109.18. Japan's Nikkei 225 index was trading 0.18 per cent higher at 8949.17 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was trading lower at 21,469.12, down 0.3 per cent. South Korea's Kospi index was trading 0.3 per cent higher at 1,897.45. China's Shanghai index was trading 0.13 per cent lower at 2,063.12
